Last year, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, married Mr Mozzi in a private family ceremony at Windsor. Beatrice became the first princess in Her Majesty’s family to marry someone who already had children.

Mr Mozzi, 38, shares his young son with his former fiancee of three and a half years, Dara Huang.

While marking World Book Day today, Beatrice said it had been a “great honour” to become stepmother to her husband’s child.

She said: “We have all had to learn new ways to cope with the strangest of times.

“For our family, reading stories has been a great part of our journey to finding laughter and a little magic on the journey.

“This year, I had the great honour to become a stepmother, and have had the most remarkable time going back over some of my most favourite stories at bedtime.

“Together, we had such a special time reading through all the entries for Oscars Book Prize 2020.”

Wolfie, who is believed to be four years old, has split his time between his mother and father since they broke up in 2018.

Six months after they broke up, Edo started seeing Beatrice, 32, whom he had been friends with for years.

After marrying Edoardo, Beatrice inherited the title of Italian Contessa or Nobile Donna, which translates as noblewoman.

These titles come from Edoardo’s side as the same as his father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, who descend from Italian aristocracy.

Before the wedding, he told the Mail Online: “Edoardo is the only male descendant taking the family into the next generation.

“He is a count – his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”

This new title means any children from Beatrice and Edoardo will be in line to the British throne as well as descending from Italian aristocracy.

Following their wedding, Beatrice spent the first coronavirus lockdown last year with her husband and his mother and stepfather in Oxfordshire.

Mr Mozzi told the Evening Standard: “It was magical but I certainly didn’t get to the end of lockdown and think I wanted to live in the countryside for the rest of my life.”

Beatrice’s younger sister Eugenie gave birth to her first child last month, whom she and her husband Jack Brooksbank have named August Philip Hawke.

Fergie was said to be “delighted”, as was Prince Andrew, Prince Philip, the Queen, and Jack’s parents.

However, while delighted to have her first biological grandchild, Fergie said Wolfie is also a member of their family.

A spokesperson for the Duchess said: “Wolfie is already a very much-loved member of the family and the Duchess is very keen to stress she sees Wolfie as their grandchild too.”

Gushing about her grandchild, Fergie wrote on social media: “As grandparents, the Duke and I are thrilled and blessed at the arrival of our grandson August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

“He is a beautiful blessing and bringer of such love and joy to our family.

“I am so proud of Jack and Eugenie, they are and will be wonderful parents.”
