The Duchess of Sussex, 39, and Princess Eugenie, 30, reportedly have a very close bond despite Harry and Meghan’s decision to quit the Royal Family in 2020. The two new mums have bonded over their pregnancy joys, according to one source. Meghan Markle, who welcomed her first child Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor with Prince Harry in May 2019, announced she was pregnant with her second child around the same time Eugenie welcomed her first son, August, in February 2021 with her husband Jack Brooksbank.
Speaking to US Weekly, a source said: “Eugenie is really the only member of the Royal Family that Meghan is still close to.”
The source went on to say they are “sort of an unlikely pair, but remain in contact”, adding that the pair “bonded” over their pregnancies.
Along with their shared baby joy, both couples said ‘I do’ in 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, just five months apart.
For those who have delved into the book about Meghan and Harry, Finding Freedom, Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry have always had a close bond, according to authors Carolyn Durant and Omid Scobie.
The authors wrote: “Out of all the Queen’s grandchildren, Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry have one of the most natural connections.”
The writers added: “Just like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest and great fun.
“The two had many nights out together in London, sneaking into back entrances of clubs such as Mahiki, where Jack was once manager, or Tonteria, where in one of the VIP cave areas they downed shots from Mexican skull-shaped glasses and a giant frozen margarita (with multiple straws).”
Mr Scobie and Ms Durant went on to say the “strong relationship between their mothers brought them together”.
Finding Freedom reads: “Like Harry, Eugenie also struggled to carve out her own identity growing up.
“Not being a senior royal meant that she had to go out into the world and find her own path, which she has done.”
The book also details how Prince Harry chose Eugenie to confide to early on in his relationship with Meghan.
The authors wrote: “Harry had always confided in his cousin when it came to the women in his life.

“Not only did he trust her implicitly, but friends said that she gives great advice and has always been ‘beyond wise’ for her years.
“It is not surprising that Eugenie was one of the first in the family to know about his relationship with Meghan.”
Eugenie was reportedly “nothing but encouraging about his new relationship”, and according to Ms Durant and Mr Scobie, the couples enjoyed several double dates out together.
But things between Eugenie and Meghan haven’t always been this positive.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they were expecting Archie on October 15, 2018.
But according to reports, Meghan and Harry chose to share the news with the royal family a few days earlier at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on October 12.
Eugenie was reportedly hurt the couple didn’t wait until after her wedding to reveal the good news, according to Finding Freedom.
The authors wrote: “It did not go down particularly well with Eugenie, who, a source said, told friends she felt the couple should have waited to share the news.”
