Eugenie, 31, took to her Instagram account to pay tribute to her mother Sarah, 62. The princess shared on Instagram Stories a post penned by Fergie announcing the success of a petition she had backed.

Eugenie shared her mother’s enthusiasm by adding to the post a clapping animated gif and the words: “Well done Mumma.”

Eugenie has often shown her love and support for Fergie on Instagram.

Earlier this month, she shared a snap of the two of them posing in the Scottish Highlands to mark her 62nd birthday.

The caption read: “Happy Birthday to my dearest Mumma..”

Similarly, in October 2019, Eugenie shared a heartfelt post to mark Fergie’s 60th birthday.

It read: “To my beautiful Mumma – Happy 60th birthday.

“You are an inspiration and one of the people I admire most in this world.

“Thank you for being you. I love you to the moon and back”.

Sarah’s major win came yesterday after councillors in Basingstoke overturned plans to create a 23.5m tall distribution hub in rural Hampshire.

Its construction would have caused the destruction of 67 ancient oaks.

The Duchess spoke multiple times about these plans in the past and how strongly she felt about protecting the trees, which inspired one of her children’s books – The Enchanted Oak Tree.

Following the council vote which saved the trees, Sarah wrote yesterday: “We won! @BasingstokeGov councillors voted 9-1 to overturn plans for one of the largest warehouses in the UK which would have destroyed 67 ancient oak trees near my childhood home.

“They inspired my book ‘The Enchanted Oak Tree’ and I am one of 103,000 people who signed a petition calling for a rethink.

“On the eve of the COP26 summit, this shows how local democracy can work and protect our precious natural environment.

“Developers may yet appeal but today we can celebrate.”

Eugenie’s public support for her mum has always been reciprocated, with Sarah often expressing pride and admiration for her daughters.

Most recently, she penned a heartfelt letter to Eugenie and Beatrice, published on Good Housekeeping.

In it, the Duchess spoke about her daughters overcoming difficulties and becoming strong and brave mothers.

She wrote: “From the time you were wee tots, you made my life complete.

“I look at how full of humility, laughter and joy you are in your hearts, and I marvel at you both.

“Now, in you as mothers, I see strength, courage and steadfastness, integrity and goodness, and the way you embrace every challenge and moment.”

Both Beatrice and Eugenie became mothers this year.

Eugenie gave birth to August Philip Hawke on February 9, three years after marrying Jack Brooksbank.

On the other hand, Beatrice welcomed her daughter Sienna Elizabeth in mid-September.
