Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey stunned the world with their allegations against the Royal Family and the Palace. The royal couple insisted that their mental health was not catered for and there were also race issues regarding Meghan. The Palace has since released a statement acknowledging the issues raised by the pair.

The statement insisted that the accusations will be taken seriously and addressed privately by the Royal Family.

Royal commentator Victoria Murphy noted that the Palace was forced to release this brief statement due to the very public nature of the spat between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.

She added the Royal Family would prefer to deal with these issues privately and behind closed doors rather than publicly.

The statement was released on Tuesday evening and read: “The following statement is issued by Buckingham Palace on behalf of her Majesty the Queen.

“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.

“While some recollection may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

Ms Murphy said: “This statement makes it very clear that they want to bring this back behind closed doors.

“They want to try to do that and they want to address it privately within the family.

“This statement makes it very clear that they are not going to be making public any result that comes out of this.”

Ms Murphy also highlighted the significance of the public’s reactions to this statement.
