The 95-year-old monarch spent a night in a London hospital last Wednesday for “preliminary tests.” The health scare lead to calls for younger royals to step in and take pressure off Her Majesty’s busy schedule. Buckingham Palace has announced that Her Majesty will “regretfully,” not be attending the COP26 summit in Glasgow next week.

Prince Charles, Camilla and the Cambridge’s will still be attending.

Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew and Europe Bureau Chief Hugh Whitfield discussed the latest royal news.

Ms Bartholomew said: “The Queen has made a special appearance via video link at Buckingham Palace a week after spending a night in hospital. A small milestone for Her Majesty.”

Mr Whitfield added: “This is the first time we’ve heard the Queen speak since she was forced to pull out of the trip to Northern Ireland last week, spending a night in hospital as well.”

“Then of course withdrawing from the climate change summit in Glasgow next week.”

“She was appearing via Zoom, a virtual presentation of the Queen’s gold medal for poetry to English poet David Constantine.”

The Queen said: “I’m very glad to have the chance to see you, even if only mechanically this morning.”

She can be heard asking: “I don’t know what you do with it, do you put it in a cupboard?”

To use the Palace’s own words, she did appear to be in “good spirits.”

“There is a widespread review now it seems of her diary going forward.”

“Her Majesty will not be attending that summit in Glasgow next week, we do have confirmation though that Prince Charles, Camilla, Kate and William will be hosting a series of events next week in Glasgow for world leaders.”

“Including the Prime Minister Scott Morrison will be there.”

Soon after the Queen was back at Windsor Castle after her short hospital stay, the Telegraph reported that she will no longer attend royal engagements alone.

The Queen will reportedly be accompanied at visits by either her children or grandchilren.

This will allow the Queen to avoid disappointment if she needs to cancel last minute, as another royal will already be attending.
