Mike Tindall has spoken about his children returning to school, during an interview with co-hosts Alex Payne and James Haskell on a new episode of The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast.

Mike and Zara Tindall share three children together Mia, 7, Lena, 3 and Lucas who is only 6 months old.

This year his children Mia and Lena will be attending a new school.

He said: “[Mia]’s generally pretty bold, but the first time she was a little bit nervous walking in.

“Wasn’t very nervous when she walked out, and then Lena, she’s still at nursery but we’ve swapped her nursery into the school to prepare her for next year.

He added: “She was very, very clingy, but now she’s fully into it.”

Queen Elizabeth has 12 great-grandchildren after Princess Eugenie’s daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mappelli Mozzi became the latest new-born in September.

Mike Tindall also revealed during the interview he and his family spent a holiday in Scotland with the monarch.

He said: “We went up to Scotland, so we’ve had a good family vacation through August, which was quite nice with the kids.”

The Queen has now returned to England from Aberdeenshire after officially opening the Scottish Parliament.

Zara Tindall is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband, Mark Phillips.

Zara Tindall has established herself as an accomplished equestrian and has raised her three children with former Rugby player Mike Tindall out of the public eye.

Zara competed in the 2012 London Olympic Games and won a silver medal, representing the British equestrian team.

Mrs Tindall, 40, has not retired yet and competed in the Nations Cup team at the CHIO Aachen World Equestrian Festival in Germany in mid-September as reported by Horse and Hound.

Princess Anne’s children, Zara and Peter do not have a royal title. Zara’s children Mia, Lena and the Tindall’s youngest child Lucas are all without royal titles too.

Mike Tindall married Zara Phillips in 2011, in a private wedding in Scotland attended by the Queen and Prince Philip.
