The BBC cited Buckingham Palace aides as saying the monarch, 95, was on “good form” as she recorded her annual broadcast last week.

It comes as the monarch will not be joined by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Christmas Day.

Her Majesty will remain at Windsor Castle rather than travel to Sandringham, while the Cambridges will still head to Norfolk.

In another blow, the Queen will also miss seeing Princess Anne after her husband Sir Timothy Laurence tested positive for Covid.

It is the monarch’s first Christmas without her beloved husband Prince Philip.

Prince Charles and Camilla have confirmed they will spend the day with Her Majesty.

Camilla enrols A-list actors in Christmas book club

Camilla will be entertaining her book club with a celebrity reading relay of a Dickens classic on Instagram.

For Christmas, the Duchess of Cornwall has launched a unique project based around Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Starting on Christmas Day, Camilla, Prince Charles and a cast of six well-known British actors and actresses will read the book on Instagram until January 5.

The reading guests include Sir Derek Jacobi, Paterson Joseph, Simon Callow, Miriam Margolyes, Stephen Mangan and Bridgette Amofah.
