The Queen, 95, will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee next year as she marks 70 years on the throne. Throughout the year, Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family will travel around the country undertaking a variety of engagements to mark the occasion.
To mark the occasion, the Queen will award Platinum Jubilee medals to some members of the Royal Family.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed she will award the medals to a number of her relatives including those who no longer or have never undertaken official engagements on her behalf.
The likes of Prince Andrew, 61, who is currently caught up in a civil lawsuit in New York, and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are expected to receive the award.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear on the list of those set to receive the award, according to the Daily Express’s royal correspondent Richard Palmer.
Despite stepping away from the monarchy in early 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will both still receive the honour alongside other acting members of the Firm.
However, royal commentator and journalist Daniela Elser has argued the Queen may be making a serious gamble by not “listening to her people” as Meghan and Harry’s popularity plummets in the UK. She claimed the Queen’s decision to “not rock the boat” could backfire.
Ms Elser wrote in news.com.au: “For the Queen, the decision to not rock the boat and to hew to what she did in 2012, rather than listening to her people, therefore, pursuing a different approach, is a serious gamble.”In recent YouGov polls, the Duke of Sussex saw his popularity drop nearly ten percent in September.
The September YouGov poll showed positive opinions of the royals in Britain dropped from 43 percent to 34 percent.
His wife, Meghan Markle, also saw a drop in popularity this side of the pond as her approval rating fell from 29 percent to 26 percent.

Camilla & Diana more ‘powerful’ in blue – makes their eyes ‘pop’
Female members of the Royal Family have often been compared to one another, including Camilla Parker-Bowles and Princess Diana.
Interestingly, both women not only had Prince Charles in common, but their clothes and looks too.
Camilla wears blue often, including for the James Bond movie premiere in the Royal Albert Hall, London, on Tuesday, September 28.
One of the reasons why Camilla regularly chooses to don blue garments is perhaps to do with her eyes and complexion, said fashion stylist Samantha Harman.
This was also true of Diana – the late Princess liked blue because it “accentuated” her eyes and suited her skintone.
Diana even wore blue eyeliner to draw attention to her eyes.
