The Princess of Wales made her first major solo visit since she received her new title as she met mothers and babies at a maternity unit in Surrey. Kate paid a visit to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford on Wednesday and left royal fans cooing over a picture of her cradling a newborn.

An image of the Princess was shared on the official Kensington Palace Twitter page, with Kate looking stunning in a mustard-coloured dress.

Other pictures showed a smiling woman and baby and the staff at the hospital greeting the Duchess.

The caption read: “Focusing on maternal mental health and pioneering overnight facilities, Royal Surrey County Hospital helps women feel safe, supported & have the best chance of developing those all-important early attachments, crucial to ensuring their babies thrive.

“It was lovely to meet some of the new mothers and their babies who are supported by such a brilliant team at the hospital.”

The future Queen was pictured holding baby Bianca Moran, who was born on Tuesday six weeks prematurely.

Royal fans left a number of comments praising Kate and her raising awareness of newborn and mother wellbeing.
