Meghan Markle and Harry: Tom Bradby discusses royal couple
Today marks the end of Donald Trump’s administration and welcomes the Biden family to the White House. The Royal Family have always had a history of entertaining American statesmen, but more recent occupants of the White House have actually become good friends with members of Britain’s ruling family.
Joe Biden will become President on January 20, at around 5pm UK time.
Having already served in the White House before as Vice President to Barack Obama, Mr Biden is already well acquainted with the royals.
Barack and Michelle Obama visited the Royal Family three times between 2009 and 2016, but they have not returned since leaving office.
The Queen first met Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during the couple’s visit to Buckingham Palace in 2009.

The couple returned in 2011, and also met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, before returning for a final time in 2016 when Mr Obama’s presidential term ended.
Apparently the Queen thoroughly enjoyed having the Obama’s over, with one royal source saying: “The Queen has a soft spot for Americans after meeting Barack Obama who she completely fell in love with – so much so that she has frequently asked her courtiers if they could arrange for him to come to Britain now he is no longer president.”
The Queen reportedly struck up a good relationship with the First Lady Michelle Obama, with the couple seen at one point embracing each other, with many accusing Ms Obama of breaking royal protocol.
The Queen’s former dressmaker Angela Kelly said about the meeting: “In reality, it was a natural instinct for the Queen to show affection and respect for another great woman, and really there is no protocol that must be adhered to.
“When fondness is felt or the host of a state visit goes to guide Her Majesty up some steps, it truly is about human kindness, and this is something the Queen will always welcome warmly.”
But the new first family of the United States will likely not visit for some time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the Biden’s are already well-in with Prince Harry, with the Duke of Sussex being good pals with Jill Biden, the new First Lady.
Ms Biden met the Duke of Sussex in 2013 during his royal tour of the states.
