Meghan joined the royal family in May 2018 when she married Prince Harry at a lavish ceremony. The event was attended by her mother, Doria, who at the time was working as a social worker.
Doria stepped down from her job at a mental health clinic shortly after the wedding.
During her earlier life she helped supplement her finances by selling homemade jewellery.
According to the Daily Mail Doria will be putting these skills to good use in her new job teaching students how to make jewellery at a community college.
The paper reports she will give instruction on making multi-strand bracelets, wire ‘linked necklaces’ and pearl necklaces at Santa Monica College.
The sessions will cost between £29 and £33 though they are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A short biography of Doria is provided on the college’s official website.
It says: “Doria Ragland is a local artist who has been designing jewellery and clothing for over ten years.
“She has participated in some of the finest art shows in the country and has received awards for her designs.

Doria was working as a make-up artist when she met Thomas Markle, Meghan’s father.
The couple were married in 1979 but divorced eight years later when Meghan was just six.
Thomas was unable to attend his daughter’s wedding due to illness and instead Prince Charles escorted Meghan down the aisle.

According to ‘Finding Freedom, a new book, Doria was in attendance when Meghan and Harry celebrated their first wedding anniversary in May 2019.
The event took place just days after Meghan gave birth to the couple’s son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
The co-authors, Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, wrote: “On the anniversary of their first year of marriage, Harry and Meghan enjoyed a traditional Sunday lunch with Doria, her last meal before travelling back to LA.
“Her five weeks at Frogmore had flown by, but she had to get back to work.”
Harry gifted Meghan an eternity ring to help celebrate the occasion.
In January of this year Meghan and Harry shocked the world by announcing their intention to stand down as senior members of the royal family.
The couple said they would become “financially independent” and repay the taxpayer money spent refurbishing their former Frogmore Cottage home near Windsor.
After a brief spell in Canada the couple moved to California shortly before the coronavirus lockdown began.
Recently they moved into a £11.2m home they purchased north of Los Angeles.
