Scan photos show devastating damage to kidnapped Angel Lynn’s skull

Leicestershire: CCTV shows moment woman is kidnapped

Horrific scans of a young woman’s skull reveal the devastating injuries she sustained after she was kidnapped by her abusive then-boyfriend. Angel Lynn was dragged off the street and bundled into a van by Chay Bowskill and he drove away with her. She fell head-first onto a road from the vehicle when it was travelling at 60mph.

She was 19 at the time of the incident in September 2020 and suffered catastrophic brain injuries that almost killed her.

Bowskill, who was then 20, claimed Angel had fallen or jumped from the van, on the A6 near Loughborough, but her mum Nikki Lynn, 48, suspected she was pushed. However, he was cleared in court of grievous bodily harm.

Angel, who is now 22, continues to receive round-the-clock care in a rehabilitation centre.

She has been left paralysed and unable to eat, walk or talk by herself.

Details of her injuries are revealed in the Channel 4 programme The Kidnap of Angel Lynn.

Speaking on the documentary, consultant neurosurgeon Stuart Smith said it was clear she suffered “very severe” injuries.

Pointing at the huge crack in her skull on a CT scan image, he said: “This area here is fractured, it’s been split open from the force of the impact.

“To fracture the skull to that degree takes an incredible degree of force.

“Her injury was so devastating and so severe, there was a very real chance that Angel wouldn’t survive.”

The scans suggest her skull was fractured in two places – one across the top of her skull and down the left side of her face, and the second across her forehead and into her eye socket.

Mail Online reports that another CT scan showed how Angel’s nose, eye socket and cheeks were injured from the fall.

The Channel 4 programme also showed dozens of abusive texts messages from Bowskill in which he called her a ‘stupid c***’ ‘b****’, and a ‘divvy little s***’.

Angel’s dad Patrick, 53, said Angel had initially denied she was dating Bowskill.

He said: “She must’ve been ashamed of him because he wasn’t a good boy. She was my angel. She’s just daddy’s girl.”

Her mum said: “He would message all the time. Message, message, message – all the time her phone was lit up. “Wherever he went she went with him.

“At that age you can’t say ‘You can’t do this’. She had her own car, you can’t ground her. I felt helpless.”

Angel was kidnapped from the village of Rothley in Leicestershire, where she lived, and fell from the vehicle around six miles away from her home.

There was no evidence to suggest Angel was pushed from the van.

Her mum said: “They said she was rolling down the road like a football.”

Bowskill, of Syston, Leicestershire, was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm because it was not clear how Angel had left the van.

But in January last year he was jailed for seven-and-a-half years after being found guilty of kidnap, coercive and controlling behaviour, and perverting the course of justice, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Judges at the Court of Appeal then determined his original term for the kidnap was not long enough and handed him four-and-a-half more years.

The driver of the van, Rocco Sansome received 21 months.
