Armed police are currently in attendance at a property on Mina Crescent in the small village of Kinglassie near Glenrothes this morning. There are reports a man has barricaded himself in the residence which police are attending.

In the street behind the property, a burnt car can be seen in a video shared on Facebook.

Around half a dozen police vehicles have been spotted on either side of the street.

Police Scotland have provided an update following the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently at a property in Mina Crescent, Lochgelly, after a man barricaded himself within.

“There is no risk to the wider public.”

Shocked residents looked on from their windows as what seemed to be a pickup truck was engulfed by the flames.

One resident wrote: “It was just outside my friend’s house.

“They have children in the house as well.”

Another resident added that they thought a “standoff” was taking place.

They wrote on Facebook: “Police have Kinglassie blocked off.

“There’s armed police all over Kinglassie in a standoff.

“Police making sure no one comes into or out the village.”

Scottish Fire and Rescue have been contacted on this matter.
