The Countess said the Earl is “very engaged as a father”. She revealed he goes horseriding with Lady Louise, 17, and fishing with James, 13, to spend time with his children.
Sophie also said Lady Louise and James “love” Edward’s barbeques.
The Countess told the Sunday Times: “He is very good at barbecues, and the children love those.
“He takes our son fishing, does a lot of riding with our daughter, he is very engaged as a father.”
Sophie also opened up on her and Edward’s decision for their children not to use HRH titles until they get the choice when they are 18.
And the Countess discussed how Lady Louise and James try to have a “normal” life.
She said: “They go to a regular school.
“They go to friends for sleepovers and parties.
“At weekends we do lots of dog walking and stay with friends.
“I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are.
“When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother.

“We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living.
“Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles.
“They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely.”
The Wessexes are likely to join the Queen at Balmoral for her annual summer holiday.
An insider previously claimed Lady Louise and James “relish their time” in the Scottish Highlands.
Speaking in 2019, the source told the Sun: “The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James.”
