The service will begin at 6pm in the historic building. 

According to ITV Royal Editro Chris Ship, 2,000 seats have been made available for members of the public to use. 

They are available on a first come first service basis from the City of London tourism office.

Those wishing to attend the service must visit in the office in person at Carter Lane, EC4M 8BX to collect a wristband from 11:00.

The cathedral has been closed today in preparation for tonight’s event.

St Paul’s will then reopen on Saturday for private prayer and services.

There will also be a live broadcast of the event on BBC1 this evening.

An order of service will also be available on the St Paul’s website 

The Dean-Designate of St Paul’s, the Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett said: “We remember with gratitude the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Over many centuries St Paul’s Cathedral has been a place to remember and mourn the lives of many of those who have died.

“As we join her family and the nation in mourning, we commend her life and work to God.”
