Thomas Markle has pleaded for a reconciliation with his daughter Meghan Markle and for an “answer” to the ongoing family feud. Of Meghan and Prince Harry, he said he doesn’t “know of anyone so cold” and criticised the way they have treated the Royal Family. Mr Markle appeared in an exclusive interview with 60 Minutes Australia to discuss the ongoing rift with his daughter.
Thomas Markle said: “I’ve apologised a hundred times for it. I’m not bitter, I’m confused – I just don’t have the answer, I wanted an answer.
“If I had done something terribly wrong, that would be fine but I haven’t. I just want an answer.”
He continued: “I don’t like to say it but I gotta say it, I don’t know anybody that cold to do this. Meghan did it to me and now Harry’s doing it to his father.”
“That’s a cold thing to do and even more cold to do it to the Queen who is in her nineties. None of this makes sense.”
When asked if he believes he shares any of the blame for the situation, he replied: “If I am, tell me why and how and I’ll fix it, I’ll try to fix it. But I don’t know how or why.”
Mr Markle has had a strained relationship with the Duchess of Sussex for several years, and they have not spoken since before her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.
In the lead-up to the royal wedding, Thomas Markle accepted payment for staged paparazzi photographs.
The pictures included images of him at a tuxedo-fitting and researching the history of Britain in an internet cafe.
He later withdrew from attending the wedding and Prince Charles stepped in to walk Meghan down the aisle.
Mr Markle later apologised for the incident, and admitted the photographs looked “hammy” and “stupid”.
His relationship with his daughter took another blow when he released extracts of a personal letter that had been sent to him by Meghan Markle. The extracts were published by the Mail on Sunday and led to a High Court battle with the Duchess and the media group.
Since then, he has participated in several interviews in which he has discussed his relationship with his daughter and his opinions on Megxit.
He has previously criticised his daughter and Prince Harry for “destroying and cheapening” the British monarchy.

In this latest interview, he hit back at the couple for their comments about ‘compassion’ and spoke of his desire to meet his grandchildren.
He is yet to meet two-year-old Archie Harrison and his newborn baby sister Lilibet “Lili” Diana.
Since the fallout from Megxit, Prince Harry has spoken of his estranged relationship with his own father Prince Charles. He told Oprah he felt “really let down” by his father and criticised Prince Charles’ parenting skills.
The couple enjoy a close relationship with Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother. She has reportedly moved in with the couple at their Californian home, to help the young family get settled with their newborn baby daughter.
