Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas Markle has spoken out against the couple multiple times after their relationship began to fracture ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. Thomas and Meghan have had no contact since 2018, meaning the former lighting director is yet to meet his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet. His most recent claim states that Meghan and Harry should not get involved in politics as members of the Royal Family.
Thomas Markle spoke to Dan Wootten on GB News, and argued that the Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry should decide if they want to be royal or not.
The comment came as the pair discussed recent claims from Prince Harry about alerting Twitter founder Jack Dorsey about the January 6 Capitol riot before the event.
He said: “I saw that, I thought it was a joke.
“And the idea that he [Harry] called them up and said that was going to happen is is ridiculous.
“The idea that the idea that they’re both writing letters to the government, first of all, royals aren’t supposed to do that.

“So they have to decide if they’re going to be royals or stop being royals.”
Mr Wootten added: “Yes, because of course your daughter, Thomas is also communicating with US Senators introducing herself as the Duchess of Sussex and campaigning for paid parental leave.
“What did you make of that?”
Mr Markle claimed: “I think it’s ridiculous for her to be doing that.”

“And I’m certainly in favour of the paid parental leave.
“I think if she’s really interested in doing that she should be out, making speeches on her own and going and trying to help families do that.”
Meghan Markle was blasted after it emerged she has been cold-calling US senators on their private numbers, using her royal title to lobby them about paid parental leave.
Sen Susan Collins told Politico she also got a call from Meghan.

She claimed: “Much to my surprise, she called me on my private line and she introduced herself as the Duchess of Sussex, which is kind of ironic.”
“I was happy to talk with her. But I’m more interested in what the people of Maine are telling me about it.”
Many have claimed that Meghan cannot use her royal title to lobby politicians as it conflicts with the Royal Family’s traditionally apolitical stance.
