Two men have died and three people were seriously injured after a police chase in Salford on Wednesday night.
According to Greater Manchester Police, the pursuit began after officers spotted a car speeding at around 11.40pm.
As it sped away on Frederick Road, it crashed into two other vehicles.
Two men in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man and two women from one of the other cars were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
No arrests have been made and the matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
A police statement said: “At around 11.40pm on Wednesday 23 September, police observed a vehicle being driven at speed on Frederick Road, Salford.
“Officers initiated a pursuit and the vehicle in question collided with two third-party vehicles.
“Two men from the vehicle in question were sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
“One man and two women from a third-party vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“No arrests have been made.
“In line with normal procedure, this incident has been referred to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch and the IOPC.”
