Urgent search for missing pensioner, 100, who vanished overnight

An urgent search is underway to find an elderly man who went missing from his home overnight.

Fears are growing for William Johnstone, 100, after he was last seen in the Hopefield Avenue area of Kelvindale, Glasgow around 11pm on Friday night.

The disappearance is said to be ‘out of character’ for the pensioner, who is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall, of a slim build with grey hair and a moustache.

The centenarian wears glasses and is thought to have been wearing an old-fashioned green jacket.

He is also likely to be wearing a shirt, jumper, trousers and smart shoes.

Police Scotland Sergeant Abdul Majid said: ‘This is out of character for William and we are concerned for his welfare given his age.

‘We believe he may have travelled to the Gretna area but he may still be in Glasgow.’

Anyone with information on Mr Johnstone’s whereabouts is asked to call police on 101.
