Kate Middleton’s brother struck a pose with his cocker spaniel, most likely Ella, on Wednesday, ending his “unintentional social detox”. The sudden Instagram post comes just weeks after he tied the knot with Alizee Thevenet on September 12.

The post read: “I’ve been so immersed in embracing & enjoying the first few months of being with my new wife I’ve realised I have unintentionally taken a social detox… which I suppose is no bad thing…,” he captioned the snap.

“BUT we are back – hope you don’t mind.”

He continued: “I highly recommend taking a social media detox from time to time – in fact I believe the saying is disconnect to reconnect.

“Over the last few months many of you have reached out…and thank you for checking up on me it means a lot.”

Fans of the Duchess’ brother, praised James for taking his social media hiatus.

One account, using the handle ketcheel, commented: “Good for you!!! Social media breaks are paramount to keep one’s sanity otherwise it’s too much noise. Glad you took this time off but also glad to have you and your lovely two legged/four legged family, back.”

“I’m happy for you that you could enjoy the time with your wife but I’m also happy that you are back,” royalfamily2018 added.

A third user, maureentarek, said: “I have to take #socialdetox as well! Welcome baaaaack!”

Mr Middleton, a known dog-lover, revealed to Hello his dogs Ella and Mabel were the couple’s “flower girls” and welcomed guests at the wedding.

He said: “It was wonderful to finally celebrate with family and friends despite the challenges of a global pandemic but we were relaxed and knew the day would eventually come.”

He posted a picture of the pair beaming with one of their dogs photobombing in the background.

In September James wrote on Instagram: “Mr & Mrs Middleton.

“Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village of Bormes-les-Mimosas.

“Words cannot describe how happy I am.”

James launched Ella & Co, a mail order dog food company that offers freeze-dried, raw, organic dog food, in May last year.

His wife Alizee is a financial analyst and grew up in Germany, Indonesia, Chile, France, Belgium and England.

For her wedding she wore the same wedding dress her mother-in-law Carole Middleton wore for her big day 41 years earlier.

She told Hello: “While talking about dresses with Carole and sharing ideas during lockdown for inspiration, I tried on her wedding dress and fell in love with it.”

“It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once, so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life.”
