Lace doilies, floral bedspreads and chandeliers fit well into a child’s doll’s house… But add some black decor, boarded up windows and a skeleton wreath, and kids may not want to play in it anymore.

With September marking the start of the year’s most scary season, TikTok user @eatsleepletter, known as Haley, set herself a challenge – to transform a traditional doll’s house into something a little spookier.

Haley detailed everything, from coffin shaped shelves to an abundance of miniature curio and ornaments by the doll’s house’s fireplace.

It was executed with such creativity that it would have deserved a spot in an episode of American Horror Story. Her creation was of blood-curdling beauty rather than aimed at a child’s games.

Throughout six videos, the TikToker transformed a pocket-sized house into something that The Addams Family would be proud to call home – an end product far from a sweet and innocent doll’s house.

Haley’s gothic touch reach every corner of the doll’s house.

She replaced a fruit arrangement with a bowl of eyeballs; a coffin-shaped shelf made out of popsicle sticks hosts tiny books of potions and spells; cool silver accents replace the original gold, all bathed in the light of lamps embellished with plastic ribcages and bones, and there are countless litres of black paint.

While many picked up creative endeavours during lockdown, Haley took her passion a step further than the rest. The results are definitely worth the effort, proof of it the videos of the doll’s houses’ transformation, which made it to the social media profiles of Buzzfeed and other big publishers.

Are dark corners and miniature cobweb-covered hallways your thing? If they don’t give you chills, this might be the right moment to give your old doll’s house a little makeover.
