A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a pensioner was stabbed to death in the middle of the night.
Police were called at about 2am on Saturday to reports that a woman, 69, had been attacked in Hereford, Herefordshire.
Paramedics attended but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Another woman, 40, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding said: ‘Officers quickly made an arrest at the scene but enquiries are still ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone with more information regarding this incident.
‘We would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.’
