The entrance to the hospital car park has reportedly been closed off with some reports claiming the hospital has been put on “lockdown”. Road closures have also been put in place near the hospital.

Wrexham Town Inspector, Luke Hughes said: “Just a note to advise that officers are currently in attendance at Wrexham Hospital dealing with an ‘ongoing incident’.

“I would suggest at this time that there is no immediate risk to the public.

“Officers will support the hospital staff and provide reassurance until the incident is concluded.

“I would urge all members of the public to avoid the area to prevent congestion and allow officers to resolve the incident as promptly as possible.”

One person told Wrexham.com “security currently stopping anyone from leaving or entering the building and everyone has been moved away from the main car park.”

Another person tweeted: ” Something currently happening at the Maelor in @wrexham.
