Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne, and the granddaughter of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Despite her being so well-cemented in royal life – she places in the inner circle – Zara has enjoyed a relatively “normal” life. This is because unlike her cousins Prince William and Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, she and her brother Peter have no royal title.

Anne and her then-husband Mark Phillips decided that their children’s lives would be better off without the baggage that comes with royalty.

Both Zara and Peter have since said that their lack of a royal title, added to the work ethic instilled in them by their mother, has led to their professional drive and hard work towards individual careers.

Yet, many have questioned how “normal” Zara’s life could be.

During a 2015 interview with New Zealand’s 1 News, the royal claimed that her upbringing and life had been and was in fact normal.

When asked how normal life could be for her, Zara replied candidly, and said: “Yes, it’s pretty normal.

“Just getting up and training, doing the horses.

“Also having Mia – it’s great to be able to do them both so closely.

“It’s a good lifestyle to have kids around too.

“You’re always outside and, obviously, I’m married to a rugby player so sports is kind of there in the blood.”

Zara had flown to New Zealand for a single event that night.

The CatWalkTrust had invited Zara for the night to raise money for the charity.

Founded by former champion rider Catriona Williams. who became a tetraplegic after a horse riding accident in 2005, Zara looked to show her support for her fellow and former athletes who had been affected by life-changing injuries.

The royal has involved herself in several charities related to her sport over the years.

Earlier this year, she announced that she and other leading equestrian stars would be raising money for NHS front line staff.

Dubbed Equestrian Relief, the fundraiser looked to help boost the amount of personal protective equipment (PPE) for NHS workers during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Her move came shortly after the Queen made a heartfelt plea to the UK and the Commonwealth to come together in the fight against coronavirus

Appearing via a video call on BBC Breakfast at the time, Zara said: “We are going to an Equestrian Relief.

“There will be five teams of us doing five tasks and we do two tasks each.

“The tasks are running five kilometres, a plank, bake-off, a piece of art and a hidden talent.”

Despite not having a title, Zara still has a spot in the line of succession.

However, her position will be demoted upon the arrival of Princess Eugenie’s royal baby, announced earlier this month.

While Peter is currently 15th in line to the throne, Zara is 18th.

The pair will each move down the line after the birth, 16th and 19th respectively.
