Beyoncé and Jay-Z paid tribute to Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle during their BRIT awards acceptance speech.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z won the award for best international group at this year’s BRITs.
The Carters were not physically present at the ceremony, but they conveyed their thanks through a video acceptance speech, which also featured a portrait of Markle.
“Thank you so much to the Brit Awards for this incredible honor,” Beyoncé said during the acceptance video. “You guys have always been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you.”
In the video, both Beyoncé and Jay-Z are dressed in outfits that resemble their dress from the “Apeshit” music video. Instead of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” in the background as in the video, a custom Meghan Markle portrait is seen hanging on the wall.
“You’re welcome,” Jay-Z jokingly replies, before the pair turn to admire the image of the Duchess.
“Thank you to the Brits for the award for Best International Group. I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle. How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova. In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.” Bey wrote on Instagram.
