Athene, Apollo To Sell AmeriHome To Western Alliance Bank
Apollo Global Management, Inc. (APO), Athene Holding Ltd. (ATH) and AmeriHome Mortgage Company LLC, Tuesday said it agreed to sell AmeriHome to a subsidiary of Western Alliance Bancorporation (WAL).
AmeriHome was founded in 2013 by AmeriHome management and funds affiliated with Apollo and subsidiaries of Athene to provide capital to US homeowners and residential mortgage originators.
“We are excited for this strategic step with Western Alliance Bank and the opportunities for growth ahead of us,” said Jim Furash, Chief Executive Officer of AmeriHome. “Apollo and Athene have been invaluable partners in incubating AmeriHome from a start-up in 2013 to one of the country’s leading mortgage originators and servicers. AmeriHome’s success, and today’s transaction, would not have been possible without the investment and strategic partnership of the teams at Apollo and Athene.”
The purchase price represents about 1.4x adjusted tangible book value based on December 31, 2020 financials. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021.
Melvin Capital raised put option on Class A shares of GameStop to 6 mln
Feb 16 (Reuters) – Hedge fund Melvin Capital Management on Tuesday disclosed it had raised the put option on Class A shares of U.S. video game chain GameStop Corp to 6 million shares for the quarter ended Dec. 31, from 5.4 million shares in the past quarter.
The disclosure comes after a flood of retail trading drove GameStop and other shares to extreme highs, squeezing hedge funds like Melvin Capital that had bet against it.
Separately, the hedge fund reported a stake of 300,000 Class A shares in Airbnb as of Dec. 31, according to a regulatory filing.
Japan Dec core machinery orders rise 5.2% month/month
TOKYO, Feb 17 (Reuters) – Japan’s core machinery orders rose 5.2% in December from the previous month, up for the third straight month, government data showed on Wednesday.
Manufacturers surveyed by the Cabinet Office forecast that core orders will fall 8.5% in January-March, after advancing 16.8% in the previous quarter.
Compared with a year earlier, core orders, a highly volatile data series regarded as an indicator of capital spending in the coming six to nine months, rose 11.8% in December, the Cabinet office data showed.

Diodes Q4 Results Beat Street View
Diodes Inc. (DIOD) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $29.7 million or $0.59 per share, down from last year’s profit of $47.2 million or $0.90 per share last year.
Adjusted income was $37.3 million or $0.74 per share, up from last year’s $33.8 million or $0.65 per share.
Revenues for the fourth quarter were $350.4 million, an increase from $301.2 million last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.70 per share on revenues of $340.15 million. Analysts typically exclude one-time items.
Looking forward to the first quarter, Diodes expect revenue to increase to about $400 million, plus or minus 3 percent. Analysts currently estimate revenues of $362.19 million.
Lattice Semiconductor Q4 Results Beat Street View
Lattice Semiconductor Corp. (LSCC) Tuesday reported a fourth-quarter earnings and revenues that trumped Wall Street view.
Portland, Oregon-based Lattice reported fourth-quarter profit of $15.99 million or $0.11 per share, compared with last year’s profit of $13.99 million or $0.10 per share.
On an adjusted basis, earnings for the quarter increased to $0.19 per share from $0.17 last year. On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.17 per share last year. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Revenues for the quarter gained 6.9% to $107.18 million from $100.24 million last year. Analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $103.15 million for the quarter.
Looking forward to the first quarter, Lattice expects revenues to be between $106 million and $114 million. Analysts currently estimate revenues of $103.4 million for the quarter.
Boyd Gaming Q4 Profit Rises
Boyd Gaming Corp. (BYD) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $83.3 million or $0.73 per share, up from last year’s $24.3 million or $0.21 per share.
Adjusted earnings for the fourth quarter were $51.9 million or $0.46 per share, compared to $57.4 million or $0.50 per share last year.
Fourth-quarter revenues dropped to $635.9 million from $833.1 million last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.39 per share on revenues of $632.26 million. Analysts typically exclude one-time items.
