Kyocera FY Profit Declines – Quick Facts

Kyocera Corp. (KYO) reported profit attributable to owners of the parent of 90.21 billion yen for the year ended March 31, 2021, down 16.3 percent from previous year. Basic earnings per share was 248.91 yen compared to 297.36 yen. Fiscal year sales revenue was 1.53 trillion yen, down 4.5 percent from last year. The company said sales revenue and profit both decreased compared to fiscal 2020 results, due primarily to the economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the year ending March 31, 2022, the company projects: basic earnings per share of 311.78 yen; and sales revenue of 1.73 trillion yen.

Separately, Kyocera and AVX Corporation announced they have established a new integrated brand, KYOCERA AVX, to be used for the Kyocera group’s electronic components business starting in October, 2021 following the integration of Kyocera’s Corporate Electronic Components Group and AVX into a new segment, Electronic Components Business, as of April 1, 2021.

Shearer’s Foods Recalls Raley’s Salt & Vinegar Flavored Potato Chips

Massillon, Ohio-based Shearer’s Foods LLC is recalling two lots of 9.5 ounce bags of “Raley’s Salt & Vinegar Flavored Potato Chips,” for the possible presence of undeclared milk, an allergen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The recall involves potato chips with UPC code 10046567025466 and lot code 06109805 with sell by date of 08/02/2021; and 06102005 with sell by date of 05/17/2021. The product comes in a 9.5 ounce bag. Only two lots of the product are affected, which were distributed at Raley’s retail stores in California.

The company warned that people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may get serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

However, there have been no reports of illness to date.

Consumers are urged not to eat the product and to return it to the store for a full refund.

In similar recalls citing undeclared milk, Glutenull Bakery recently called back Goji Berries and Chocolate Cookies, and Mindo Chocolate Makers in mid- March recalled Coffee Toffee Chocolate Bar.

Polaris Q1 Profit Beats Estimates

Polaris (PII) reported first quarter adjusted net income of $146 million, or $2.30 per share compared to $14 million, or $0.22 per share, prior year. On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $1.59, for the quarter. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items. Net income was $134 million, or $2.11 per share, compared to a net loss of $5 million, or $0.09 per share, a year ago.

First quarter sales were $1.95 billion, up 39 percent from prior year. Analysts expected revenue of $1.86 billion, for the quarter.

Maruti Suzuki Q4 consolidated net profit dips 6% to ₹1,241 cr

Sales in the domestic market stood at 4,56,707 units, up by 26.7%. Exports were at 35,528 units.

The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Tuesday reported 6.14% decline in consolidated net profit at ₹1,241.1 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2021.

The auto major had posted a net profit of ₹1,322.3 crore in January-March quarter of 2019-20, MSI said in a regulatory filing.

However, revenue from sale of products stood at ₹22,959.8 crore as compared with ₹17,187.3 crore earlier, up 33.58%.

The company sold a total of 4,92,235 vehicles during the fourth quarter, higher by 27.8% as compared to the same period previous year.

Sales in the domestic market stood at 4,56,707 units, up by 26.7%. Exports were at 35,528 units.

For the 2020-21 fiscal, the company reported a 22.69 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit at ₹4,389.1 crore, as compared with ₹5,677.6 crore in 2019-20.

Revenue from sale of products declined to ₹66,571.8 crore , as against ₹71,704.8 crore in FY20.

The company said that in line with the financial performance of the year and considering uncertain business environment, the company’s board recommended a dividend of ₹45 per share (face value of ₹5 per share) for FY 2020-21.

Five NFL draft prospects who could slide out of the first round

For marquee NFL draft hopefuls, getting bypassed in the first round can produce an excruciating extra day of waiting. 

While several players can count on hearing their names read by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday in Cleveland, uncertainty has clouded the draft process since last year, and several mainstays of mock drafts could end up falling to Round 2. While it's difficult to tell which players might not make the cut for the first 32 picks, several notable big names could be in jeopardy given injury history, bouts of inconsistency and other issues.
