HashiCorp Rises 9%; Breaks Downward Trend

Shares of software maker HashiCorp, Inc. (HCP) are rising 9 percent on Wednesday’s trading, thus breaking the downward movement of the last few days.

Even while there has been no company announcement to positively impact the stock, the U.S markets are on an upward trend, bouyed by the strong quarterly results posted by Microsoft (MSFT).

Currently at $60.78, the stock has traded between $45.43 and $102.95 during the past 52 weeks.

Canadian National Railway Co (CNR.TO) revealed a profit for its fourth quarter that increased from the same period last year

The company’s earnings came in at C$2.00 billion, or C$1.69 per share. This compares with C$1.02 billion, or C$1.43 per share, in last year’s fourth quarter.

Excluding items, Canadian National Railway Co reported adjusted earnings of C$1.21 billion or C$1.71 per share for the period.

The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 2.5% to C$3.75 billion from C$3.66 billion last year.

Danaher Corp. Q4 Profit Increases, beats estimates

Danaher Corp. (DHR) revealed earnings for its fourth quarter that increased from the same period last year and beat the Street estimates.

The company’s earnings came in at $1.75 billion, or $2.39 per share. This compares with $1.20 billion, or $1.66 per share, in last year’s fourth quarter.

Excluding items, Danaher Corp. reported adjusted earnings of $2.69 per share for the period.

Analysts on average had expected the company to earn $2.54 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.

The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 20.6% to $8.15 billion from $6.76 billion last year.

Capital expenditure by coal CPSEs climbs 28.3%

Units meet 75% of annual target

The government on Wednesday said the Ministry of Coal, through its CPSEs, has registered a 28.3% year-on-year growth in capital expenditure (capex) to ₹12,605.75 crore for the period ended December.

The Ministry of Coal, through its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), had registered capex of ₹9,822.28 crore a year earlier.

This capex achievement is also 75% of the Ministry of Coal’s annual target, the Ministry said in a statement.

Coal India (CIL) is one of the CPSEs under the Coal Ministry. CIL had earlier said its capital expenditure jumped more than two-fold to ₹1,840 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal, compared with ₹844 crore a year earlier. It said the jump was a reflection of its stepping up investments in evacuation infrastructure, land acquisition and procurement of heavy equipment.

CIL has achieved 94% of the target of ₹1,960 crore, set for April-June quarter of the ongoing fiscal.

Rogers Communications Initiates FY22 Revenue Growth Guidance – Quick Facts

While reporting financial results for the fourth quarter on Thursday, Canadian technology and media company Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI,RCI.TO) provided total service revenue growth guidance for the full-year 2022.

For fiscal 2022, the company now expects total service revenue growth in a range of 4 to 6 percent from C$12.53 billion revenues reported in fiscal 2021.

For the fourth quarter, net income decreased 10 percent to C$405 million or C$0.80 per share from C$500 million or C$0.89 per share in the year-ago quarter. Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were C$0.96, compared to C$0.99 per share in the prior-year quarter.

Revenue for the quarter grew 6 percent to C$3.92 billion from C$3.68 billion in the same quarter last year.

On Wednesday, the Board declared a dividend of C$0.50 per Class A Share and Class B Non-Voting Share to be paid on April 1, 2022 to shareholders of record on March 10, 2022.

Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) reported fourth-quarter adjusted profit per share of $0.24 compared to a loss of $2.54, prior year. On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.22, for the quarter. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.

Net profit was $18 million or $0.14 per share compared to a loss of $447 million or $3.60 per share.

Revenue increased to $1.90 billion from $808 million, a year ago. Analysts on average had estimated $1.85 billion in revenue.

The company’s earnings totaled NT$15.95 billion, or NT$1.30 per share. This compares with NT$11.20 billion, or NT$0.92 per share, in last year’s fourth quarter.

The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 30.5% to NT$59.10 billion from NT$45.30 billion last year.
