Dog dies after falling through ice at Cheese Ranch Park in Highlands Ranch
By Blayke Roznowski, Denver7
HIGHLANDS RANCH — An English bulldog died after walking onto the ice at a pond in Cheese Ranch Park on Friday.
South Metro Fire Rescue were called out to the park in Highlands Ranch to try to rescue the dog just after 12:30 p.m.
A rescue diver was able to find the 7-year-old dog under the water. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the dog, but it died.
“This is a tragic reminder of just how dangerous the ice can be to people and pets,” South Metro Fire Rescue said in a tweet.

Lockdown Extended for Sydney’s Northern Beaches as Cluster Grows
Australian authorities extended a lockdown for Sydney’s Northern Beaches until at least Dec. 30 as a cluster of Covid-19 infections continues to grow.
Some 250,000 people in the area should remain at home except for essential medical care and provisions, but will be able to gather outside for exercise with 5 or 10 people depending on whether they are in the worst-affected areas, the New South Wales state government said Saturday. Nine new cases were recorded overnight, with eight linked to the outbreak — taking the cluster’s total size to 116.
State Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters that health officials remain concerned that the virus spread into the central business district in the days leading up to Christmas, and urged Sydneysiders to limit their activities in coming days and avoid Boxing Day shopping sales.
“There are still concerns about the CBD and still concerns about people in the Northern Beaches who may unintentionally have spread the virus without knowing they have it,” she said. “Our strategy is to nip this in the bud as soon as we can, to make sure we do the hard yards now so we can have normality as soon as we can.”
The source of the outbreak is still being investigated.
Watershed year for Singapore’s economy
Singapore’s economy saw its worst recession since independence this year, with global supply and demand battered by the coronavirus pandemic.
While the Republic’s industries have seen some signs of recovery over the second half of the year, the economic indicators reflect the uncertainty of the global picture.
Kanye West Releases Surprise Album On Christmas, An EP Called ‘Emmanuel’
As is his wont, Kanye West again dropped a surprise record on Christmas Day. Written and exec produced by West, the 5-track Emmanuel is “ancient and Latin inspired new music.” Performed by West’s Sunday Service group, Emmanuel certainly has a choral feel. As with last winter’s Jesus Is Born, the release is said to be a “celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.”
Jesus Is Born debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and also featured the Sunday Service Group.
Emmanuel means “God is with us.” It is a name which is conferred upon Jesus in Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive in the womb, and shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel…”
The 12-minute EP is available on Spotify. Its 5 tracks are:
1. Requiem Aeternam
2. O Mira Nox
3. O Magnum Mysterium
4. Puer
5. Gloria
