The Tory leadership candidate said the Chinese Communist Party threatens the “world’s security and prosperity this century”. As part of his campaign he vowed to close all 30 of China’s Confucius Institutes in the UK, build relationships to tackle Chinese cyber-threats and expand MI5’s reach to “counter Chinese industrial espionage”. It comes as Putin has recently claimed the Kremlin would deploy its newest nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile, able to reach Britain in three minutes, by the end of 2022.

    Boris Johnson is “waiting in the wings”, and banking on whoever replaces him to “fail miserably”, a former Tory Parliamentary candidate has claimed.

    David Bull believes the Tories have “shot themselves in the foot” by offering its members a choice between Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and former Chancellor Rishi Sunak – suggesting Penny Mordaunt or Kemi Badenoch would be a better option than either.

    He said the winner could rapidly see their victory turn into a “poison chalice” if they fail to deliver. 

    Referring to the PM’s remark at the end of his final Prime Minister’s Question Time, Mr Bull added: “I think I was the first to say that with ‘Hasta La Vista’, the second part of that is ‘I’ll be back’.”

    Rishi Sunak has dubbed China the “largest threat to Britain”, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s extraordinary nuclear threats to the West.

    The Tory leadership candidate said the Chinese Communist Party threatens the “world’s security and prosperity this century”.
