The Prime Minister enters the weekly encounter with an ace up his sleeve. Labour’s Shadow attorney general has given Mr Johnson an easy line to attack Sir Keir with any time the Opposition leader tries to criticise the Government’s handling of coronavirus.
In comments leaked from a briefing with a City law firm Lord Charlie Falconer described the crisis as the “gift that keeps on giving”.
Any criticism from Sir Keir and the Prime Minister is likely to recite the line as proof Labour is exploiting the pandemic for its own ends.
For his part, the Opposition leader is likely to focus on the unveiling of the Government’s new border policy which from Monday will require arrivals from “red list” countries to quarantine at a hotel for 10 days.
The decision to introduce quarantine was made last month but has still not been implemented.
