Police say they shot and killed a 22-year-old man in Englewood on Sunday night.
The Englewood Police Department said in a news release that “officers were met with gunfire” while investigating a disturbance inside a home in the 5000 block of South Grove Street. They’d initially learned of the disturbance at the residence around 7:39 p.m.
Police said they began shooting back, hitting and killing the man. No officers were injured, the Englewood Police Department said.
The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, according to the news release.
The identity of the man killed by police has not yet been released.
The Englewood Police SWAT Team arrived at the scene and “secured the residence,” police said, while the 18th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team came to investigate.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and no other details were available.
