Fort Hood soldier Elder Fernandes goes MISSING just days after 11th death at Texas base this year

FORT Hood soldier Elder Fernandes has gone MISSING just days after the 11th death at the Texas base this year.

The military base's 1st Cavalry Division has asked for public help in locating the 23-year-old specialist.

Fernandes is a Chemical, Biological Radiological and Nuclear specialist at Fort Hood.

"We are seeking your help in locating Sgt. Elder Fernandes," the 1st Cavalry said in a statement.

"We are actively searching to locate him and continue to stay in contact with his Family, friends, and law enforcement."

The Army division said their "primary concern" is the soldier's "safety and wellbeing."

"We have completed a search of the entire division area, to include motorpools, parking lots, and headquarters buildings and the unit is in contact with the Soldiers Family, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division and civilian law enforcement agencies to help find him as we continue our search," the army said in a press release.

Anyone with information related to Fernandes' disappearance is asked to contact Fort Hood Military Police at (254) 288-1170, the U.S. Army CID at (254) 287-2722, or the Killeen Police Department at (254) 200-7905.

Fernandes' disappearance comes just days after the 11th death on the military base this year.

Specialist Cole Jakob Aton was the most recent death, after he was hit by a car and died on August 12.

His death followed ten other soldiers – including Vanessa Guillen, whose remains were found months after she went missing.

As investigators searched for Guillen's body amid her disappearance, multiple other soldiers' bodies were recovered.

Specialist Aaron David Robinson, Gregory Wedel-Morales, Private Mejhor Morta, Specialist Francisco Gilberto Hernandez-Vargas, Private First Class Brandon Scott Rosecrans, Private First Class Freddy Delacruz Jr, Specialist Christopher Wayne Sawyer and Specialist Shelby Tyler Jones were all found dead at Fort Hood this year.

Army Secretary Ryan McCarty announced in June that an independent probe into the deaths would be launched.

Results from the investigation will be released in October.
