The Federal Council gave the green light for the amendment to the Infection Protection Act, which means fromnext week, stricter nationwide rules will apply in districts with cases of over 100.  It comes as the number of confirmed Covid cases have increased by 29,518 to 3,217,710, according data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases.

The reported death toll rose by 259 to 80,893, the tally showed.
