Prince Harry and Prince William looked "relaxed" as they met for the first time since Prince Philip's funeral but it won't be enough to "smooth things over", according to a royal commentator.
The brothers were reunited at the unveiling of a statue of their mother Princess Diana on what would have been her 60th birthday at Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden on Thursday (July 1).
According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the pair have been "texting about the football" and their frosty relationship – allegedly strained since "Megxit" – might be thawing.
But the cracks in the relationship will still remain, she believes.
Talking on True Royalty TV while covering the ceremony live, Katie said: "Inevitably today is going to prompt us and other royal commentators around the world to speculate on whether this is going to be the icebreaker."
She continued: "Is this going to be the precursor to the brothers finally being able to sit down and sort things out?
"When you watch that footage, I think both of them look relaxed. Harry particularly so. He is clearly at ease."
Footage from the ceremony showed the Duke of Sussex smiling as he removed the cover from the statue with his brother.
Parents charged with 'keeping young son's body in their freezer for more than 2 years'
The royal expert added: "Does that mean everything is going to be sorted and all the cracks are smoothed over? I don't think so.
"But there is a levity between them that clearly wouldn't have been appropriate at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral."
The brothers made no speeches, but said afterwards in a joint statement: "Today, on what would have been our Mother's 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.
"Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.
"Thank you to Ian Rank-Broadley, Pip Morrison, and their teams for their outstanding work, to the friends and donors who helped make this happen, and to all those around the world who keep our mother's memory alive."
Emotional royal fans have gushed over how "beautiful" the statue of Princess Diana statue is as it was unveiled and many thought it was a fitting tribute to her charitable work.
