Prince Harry's body language showed signs he was pretending he had no "rift" with his brother Prince William during a recent speech, an expert has suggested.
The Duke of Sussex delivered a virtual speech at the Diana Award on Monday (June 29) ahead of the statue unveiling of his late mother Princess Diana on what would have been her 60th birthday.
In the speech, the 36-year-old spoke poignantly of the ongoing legacy of the People’s Princess and mentioned his brother William in a non-royal tone.
He said: "Later this week my brother and I are recognising what would have been our mum's 60th birthday, and she will be so proud of you all for living an authentic life, with purpose and with compassion for others."
Body language expert Judi James said the comment appeared "off-the-cuff" from the rest of the "clearly scripted" speech.
"It sounds like the most natural thing in the world for a son to name-drop his brother when talking about his mother's 60th birthday but for Harry and William nothing about their current relationship is casual or easy-going," she told the Sun.
"It is clearly an inclusive reference to suggest unity, as though this event has been planned and will be attended jointly.
"Like the way the brothers walked off chatting after Prince Philip's funeral, the reference is probably deceptively casual and actually the result of some deliberate planning and decisions."
In the message Harry referred to "our mum's 60th birthday", which Judi said seemed to have a personal tone.
And she added the prince's gestures and choice of words made it seem like he is "keen to either repair relationships or to act as though no rifts exist".
When the Duke mentioned William, he showed a sense of "casualness" through his body movement.

"He tilts his head to one side, raises his eyebrows and throws his extended hands out as though wanting to shrug off any idea of tension," Judi added.
But, she said, his blink rate increased with suggested "a small burst of adrenalin", hinting that the moment "isn't as casual as he's trying to make it look".
He also appeared to be touching his wedding ring, which Judi said could be a self-comfort ritual by reminding him of his wife.
