‘His tweets can feel a bit unfiltered’: Ivanka Trump jokes about her father’s use of Twitter as she tells Florida MAGA crowd the ‘energy and momentum’ for the president is ‘unprecedented’ across the US

  • The rally with a crowd of around 1,000 was held on Wednesday in Fort Meters
  • Ivanka spoke about the economy, jobs, schools and the coronavirus pandemic
  • She also joked her ‘father’s communication style is not to everyone’s taste’
  • The president’s campaign manager also told the crowd to ignore the polls
  • Polls released on Wednesday morning suggest Joe Biden is ahead of Trump

Ivanka Trump headlined a ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) rally in Florida on Wednesday, less than two weeks ahead of the presidential election.

During the rally in Fort Myers, President Trump’s daughter joked that her father’s ‘tweets can feel a bit unfiltered.’

She also attended an invitation-only private fundraiser at an undisclosed location in Naples on the same day.

Trump stressed the importance of voting to the crowd of around 1,000 supporters, saying: ’13 days from now, we are going to once again win Florida.’

Her remarks at the event at Top Rocker Field at Six Bends echoed those she made in her speech at the Republican National Convention in August.

The majority of her speech was spent talking about the economy and jobs, but also schools, saying ‘The best investment we can make is an investment in the next generation.’

She also joked about her father’s love of Twitter, saying: ‘I recognize that my father’s communication style is not to everyone’s taste, and his tweets can feel a bit unfiltered.’

The 38-year-old’s speech did get personal, seeing her draw from her own experiences as a mother when talking about the pandemic, Wink News reported.

‘As a mom of three young kids, I know I can speak for all the parents out there when I say that my appreciation for teachers is at an all-time high,’ she said.

Mercedes Schlapp – President Trump’s senior campaign adviser – also took to the stage, telling the crowd to ignore what the analysts and the polls are saying.

Polls released on Wednesday morning suggest Joe Biden is winning.

Polls from the critical battleground state of Florida – which has 29 electoral college votes – show that 50 percent of voters say they back Biden, with 46 percent for Trump.

But the difference between the two is at the poll’s margin of sampling error, which means there is currently no clear leader in the survey.

Pictures of the crowd showed Trump supporters wearing red caps and T-shirts, but very few people wearing face masks.

Despite the polls, Ivanka said, ‘I got to tell you, the energy, the momentum, across this country for President Trump is unprecedented.’

A statement released by Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo responded to Ivanka’s comments.

‘More empty promises peddled by the Trump family isn’t going to change the fact that Donald Trump still doesn’t have a plan to beat back this pandemic and rebuild our economy,’ the statement read.

‘As Donald Trump botched our federal response to the coronavirus pandemic, areas like Fort Myers, with a large senior population and reliance on tourism have paid the price.

‘More than 220,000 Americans have died, yet Trump continues to ignore the science, attack Dr. Fauci, and pretend like the pandemic is over — even as thousands more get infected every single day.

‘Floridians need a leader like Joe Biden who doesn’t shrink away from big problems, but tackles them head-on. Enough with the lies and chaos, make a plan to vote at iwillvote.com to cast your ballot by November third.’
