‘Kind’ dead gran dug up 10 years after death still has hair and can almost stand

A gran who died 10 years ago has been dug up only to be found with a full head of hair in a rare "spontaneous mummy" event.

The eerily intact corpse of Margarita Rosario was pulled out of the ground by her family to be moved to a new location but caused a shock to those involved.

According toPrimer Impacto, the footage was taken of the deceased woman moments before she was moved to her new resting place.

But to her family’s shock, when she was pulled up again after 10 years of being left to rest, she was discovered to have a full head of hair.

Margarita was put into a nightgown to be moved and was even found to have large amounts of skin still covering her bones.

In the clip, the voice of a man can be heard saying: “Look, she’s the same.”

Speaking to Primer, an employee at La Colonia Cemetery, Antonio Abreu, explained how shocked the family was by her thick head of hair.

Antonio said: “In the 13 years that I have worked here, I have never seen anything like it.

“They said that the woman was good, that maybe that’s why she stayed that way because she performed a lot of favours.”

The family are understood to think that the lack of decomposition on the body is a result of the kind and good way in which Ms Rosario lived her life.

The same paper reported that the same thing happened in 2017 in the same municipality, Jarabacoa.

Jarabacoa coroner Rafael Domínguez said he felt both incidents, which saw the corpses undergo less rotting than expected, were examples of “spontaneous mummification”.

He said: “The putrefaction process is interrupted somewhere.

“The bacteria’s decay does not continue its process.”
