Map shows location that will see 7 inches of snow – UK braces for ‘Polar Vortex’

The exact location where a whopping seven inches of snow could hit the UK next month is being shown by weather maps.

Forecasters are warning the public of a "Stratospheric Polar Vortex" that could trigger a weather pattern similar to the "Beast from the East".

Millions of Britons were struck by heavy snow last week, as the Met Office were forced to issue several weather warnings, including a rare amber warning.

WXCHARTS weather maps show that February is the month where heavy snow could make its return amid the potential of an "Arctic blast".

Two inches of snow is forecast to fall in a large area of north west Scotland, with the threat of snowfall to occur throughout the rest of the country on February 4.

As the day progresses, its set to get worse with weather maps showing that up to seven inches could fall in northern Scotland, with the threat of snow again spreading towards northern England and Wales.

Brian Gaze from The Weather Outlook warned that the period around Valentine's Day has usually brought out the UK's coldest and heaviest snow.

He said: "Computer models are suggesting that a weakening of the Stratospheric Polar Vortex (SPV) in the coming weeks could lead to an increasing chance of cold weather during February.

"It's a long way off in weather terms but the period around Valentine's Day has in the past often brought the UK some of its coldest and most wintry spells of weather.

"A weakening SPV leads to an increasing chance of a very cold Arctic Blast or a Beast From The East weather pattern, like the one we saw in February 2018."
