Lancashire Police have said they need more time to identify the body recently pulled from the River Wyre.

No formal identification has yet been made on the body and Lancashire Police are set to hold a press conference at 5.30 today.

Officers had been called to a river scene close to Rawcliffe Road in St Micahel's on Wyre, Lancashire, yesterday after a tip-off from two walkers.

Underwater specialists and police cars were previously reported by Daily Star as rushing to the scene, with officers entering the water and retrieving a currently unidentified body.

Lancashire Police are yet to formally identify the body and have not yet confirmed the identity of the person found in the river.

Procedures are underway and the death is currently being treated as unexplained, with the force saying they need more time to analyse the body found yesterday.

The 45-year-old mum of two has been missing since Friday, January 27 and experts have trawled the waters of the River Wyre ever since in a search for Nicola.

"We were called today at 11:36am to reports of a body in the River Wyre, close to Rawcliffe Road. An underwater search team and specialist officers have subsequently attended the scene, entered the water and have sadly recovered a body.

"No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time.

"Procedures to identify the body are on-going. We are currently treating the death as unexplained."
