A police officer reportedly shot a family’s dog for barking after mistaking their house for a sex offender’s.
Chris Coiner and his family were left devastated after their beloved three-year-old pet Clide was killed in Greenbrier, Arkansas in the US.
The officer – named locally as James Freeman – had been due to visit a sex offender’s home for a compliance check, the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office said.
But instead, he went by mistake to the wrong property after being told that was where the offender lived, the New York Post reported.
Mr Coiner claimed he shot his dog because it barked.
He filmed himself confronting the officer in the aftermath of the shooting and shared it on Facebook.
The furious dog owner captioned the clip, "why is he at my house shooting my dog".
Footage shows the dog’s body on the floor and a family member crouched over him.
Mr Coiner demands the officer’s name before starting to scream at him.
He yelled: "You shot and killed my goddamn dog.

"Get off my property, motherf*****.
"I can’t believe you did that.
"Get off my property now."
Mr Coiner described the dog as his three-year-old son’s "buddy" and a "family member".
The man told local Fox 16 News: "I was livid, I was livid with feelings and he didn’t care one bit.
"He did not make any attempt to get away from it, he didn’t make any attempt to get back in his vehicle, all he did was shoot the dog because he was barking at him."
