Police stopped a carjacking Saturday morning and safely recovered a 1-year-old child who was inside the car when it was stolen outside a Commerce City store.
After police issued an advisory, Brighton police spotted the stolen sedan, chased it in a short pursuit and intercepted it in a crash near North Eighth Avenue and Walnut Street.
Police arrested the suspect, whose identity has not been released.
Denver7 reported that the car was stolen about 11:20 a.m. in Commerce City, where the adult driver had left the vehicle unlocked and running with two children inside. When the suspect entered the car, a 10-year-old child managed to escape before he drove off.
Police did not specify where the car was parked when it was stolen.
