Authorities are working to locate an teenage girl who said she tested positive for Covid-19 and claimed she planned to spread the virus.
Police in Carrolton, Texas say they have identified 18-year-old Lorraine Maradiaga from a video she posted to social media where she said she tested positive for coronavirus.
In the video posted to Snapchat, the woman believed to be Maradiaga is going to what appears to be a drive-thru testing site. A nurse is seen in the video telling Maradiaga she needs to go home as she waits test results, according to KXAS.
The woman police say is Maradiaga is seen in a second video shopping in a store she says is Walmart. She then proceeds to make the concerning threats.
‘I’m here at Walmart about to infest every motherfucker, because if I’m going down, all you motherfuckers are going down,’ she said.
Later in the video, Maradiaga coughs into the camera, then says ‘If you want to get the coronavirus and fucking die, call me. I’ll meet you up and (she coughs) and I will shorten your life.’
Police have since charged Maradiaga with making a terroristic threat, although she has not yet been found by authorities, who have been unable to confirm whether she tested positive for the virus.
‘We have no confirmation Maradiaga is actually a threat to public health. We are, however, taking her social media actions very seriously,’ police said on Twitter.
Anyone with information regarding Maradiaga’s whereabouts is being urged to call the Carrollton police department.
