Prince Harry has been having secret conversations with Prince Charles in a hope to heal their rift before the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration.
Harry "reached out" to his father after claiming he has been stripped of his money and security which is stopping him from returning to the UK for safety reasons.
A source told The Sun: “There has been a definite thaw in relations between Harry and Charles. They are on much better terms and have been having friendly chats and video calls.
“It has been suggested to Harry he may live to regret any lingering family bitterness, and he has taken that on board.
“There is a feeling he is coming back more into the fold and wants to be closer to his family.”
Palace officials expect the 37-year-old to return to the UK this summer for the Queen's Jubilee in June.
However ,it is unclear if Harry will be returning alone or with his family, wife Meghan, 40, two-year-old son Archie and seven-month-old daughter Lilibet.
Harry moved to California US in 2020 after giving up royal duties to become a private citizen.
Prince Charles is reportedly "desperate" to see his grandchildren and to spend quality time with them after having several "enjoyable" video calls, said a royal source.
The Prince of Wales, 73, has offered for Harry and his family to stay with him while they visit the UK however, Harry has now said it is "too great a personal risk" due to the lack of security.
The Duke of Sussex has reportedly threatened to sue over the Home Office's refusal to let him take the "unprecedented" step of paying for police to guard him when he next comes back to his country of birth.
