Russian military convoys have been spotted entering separatist 'breakaway regions' in Ukraine after President Vladimir Putin ordered the deployment of troops.

The chilling clips shared on Twitter show armoured vehicles and men in uniform driving across the border into Donetsk.

This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the deployment of troops into separatist regions, claiming they are being sent there to "keep the peace".

On Monday night Putin also issued a decree, officially recognising the independence of the breakaway regions, paving the way to offer them military support.
