Sex shop with UK’s ‘largest dildo selection’ attacked by thugs for fourth time

A sex shop with the largest selection of dildos in the UK has been targeted by balaclava-wearing thugs for a fourth time.

Clonezone in Manchester's gay village was attacked on Monday (May 22) by two masked men on a motorbike.

CCTV showed the men approaching the shop on a red dirt bike before smashing the windows. The attack caused £4,000 worth of damage.

Police believe it was the same bike that thugs used to vandalise the sex shop on April 24. This week's attack mirrored the other three.

Greater Manchester Police previously arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage. He has since been released on bail.

The force described the incident as "hate-motivated" and said the destructive acts "simply cannot continue".

Chief Inspector Adam Wignall said: "We know that there are members of the public who are out there who know who this bike belongs to and we are urging them to reach out to us.

"This is the fourth attack on this establishment in the last three months and this simply cannot continue for this business.

"We will be increasing our police presence in the area over the coming days and these officers can be approached by anyone who has any information."

Clonezone, described as a "beloved and iconic queer sex shop", said the attacks were a "premeditated, targeted hate crime". They believe they are being targeted as they are a "queer business".

Clonezone manager Richard Tropez said the firm had launched an appeal because "nothing else has worked".

"It's time that we as a community took matters into our own hands and reach out for information that will lead to a conviction," he said.

"I feel we are now sitting ducks for future attacks until we can find and prosecute those responsible."
