Son admits 'I’ve killed mum and her partner…I can’t stop the hatred' in voicemails to friends and family after 'murder'

A JURY today heard voicemails left by a killer son just minutes after knifing his mum and her millionaire partner.

Thomas Schreiber 35, is accused of the murder of Sir Richard Sutton, 83, and the attempted murder of his mum, Anne Schreiber, 66, on April 7, 2021.

In messages played at Winchester Crown Court he calmly stated "I've killed my mother and I've killed her partner".

In the first message to his friend Josh Adamson just after 7pm, Schreiber said: "I’m so sorry, I’ve made a mistake and let my emotions get the better of me.

"This is the last time you’ll ever hear from me.

"I’ve let my anger get the better of me and I’ve killed my mother and I’ve killed her partner.

"I can’t stop the hatred and.. it’s become too much, the denial and the deceit and the lies and..I had to take actions, it’s awful and I’m so sorry."

In a rambling call to his sister Rose's voicemail Schreiber said: “You’re a fantastic sister even though you’re a liar and a gold digger just like your mother. You will always be part of me.

"I’m so sorry for all my mistakes. But the lies and the consistent lies have become too much.

"I will always love you, you're a fantastic person, you're intelligent, you're smart and basically I want you to be happy and I’m sorry because I couldn’t take the lies anymore and I couldn’t take the hatred anymore."

In a voicemail to Schreiber's friend James Reid he said: "So sorry. I’ve let things… get too much.

"I’ve killed my mum and I’ve killed Richard and I’m here lying in blood and I’m about to kill myself and I love you dearly and I want you to know that."

The defendant was crying and told his girlfriend that he had 'f****d up', was covered with blood and had killed 'Mum and Richard'

He went on to say he didn't "appreciate being knocked around by Richard" and referred to "my gold digging mother".

Schreiber's girlfriend Sathia Pagliuca received a notification she had received £30,000 with a note saying 'Love from Thomas', the jury heard.

She texted him to ask “what have you done?” and “I cannot have all this money” before speaking to him just before 7.30pm.

Adam Feest QC, prosecuting, told the jury: "The defendant was crying and told his girlfriend that he had 'f****d up', was covered with blood and had killed 'Mum and Richard'.

"He told her that he was going to kill himself and, when she sought to persuade him to go to the police instead, said 'should I spend the rest of my life in prison?'."

The jury was also shown a dramatic video of bodyworn camera footage from armed police officers who smashed through a glass conservatory door before clearing each room.

When the officers came across Anne Schreiber one of the officers believed she had been shot with a shotgun due to the severity of her injuries.

Police then came across the body of Sir Richard on the upstairs landing before taking him into the bedroom where they had more room to try and save him.

As the officers cleared each room of the sprawling estate one described the scene as a "warzone".

One officer who was attending to Mrs Schreiber said "she's bleeding out" before carrying her out of the property to the waiting ambulances.

Schreiber has admitted manslaughter over the multi-millionaire's death but denies murder.

Regarding his mother, he pleads not guilty to attempted murder.

The trial continues.
