Between 10am and 4pm today Britons should brace for 15cm of snow, according to The Met Office. In Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, Merseyside, Yorkshire, West Midlands, Derbyshire and Scotland snow is expected. This will be followed by continued freezing spells and a rare “thundersnow” phenomenon, which sees snow accompanied by thunder and lightning in the same way it usually occurs with rain.
