Multiple deaths have been reported following a shooting at a University in the US.
Police are investigating after shots were fired at two locations on the Michigan State University campus on Monday evening (February 13).
According to Michigan State University Department of Police, "multiple shots" were fired near Berkey Hall, which is on the northern boundary of campus in East Lansing.
East Lansing police said in a social media post that a shooter remains at-large at this time.
Campus police say the suspect is "believed to be on foot," and those people who live on or near the campus should continue to shelter-in-place.
A correspondent on the scene for Fox News 59 reported that people were being escorted from Berkey Hall, and they appeared to be bloody.
Students were urged to "Run, Hide, Fight," as an alert was sent to them at about 8:30 p.m local time, telling them: "Run means evacuate away from danger if you can do so safely, Hide means to secure-in-place, and Fight means protect yourself if no other option."
Students on campus reported on social media that they were hiding or barricaded as officers scoped out the area.
One student tweeted: "It's too close, it's too close," before addding: "Honestly, I'm fearing right now. I don't know what's going on. Nobody knows what's going on."
One report said there was a person running across campus with a long gun and a hood up.
Campus police tweeted: "The suspect is believed to be on foot right now. Community members on and off campus should continue to shelter in place. Police are continuing to respond."
An update said: "There is another reported shooting at IM East. Police are responding. There are multiple reported injuries. Media staging area is currently being determined.
"IM East is being secured. It appears there is only one suspect at this time."
Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, tweeted: "I've been briefed on the shooting at Michigan State University.
"The Michigan State Police along with @MSUPolice, local law enforcement and first responders are on the ground.
"Let's wrap our arms around the Spartan community tonight.
"We will keep everyone updated as we learn more."
